TYLOGIX Linux & Freeware Links
Back to Tylogix Home PageHOWTO burn your DVD/CD ISO inside a Windows environment - a MOST useful link!
LINUX Software Encyclopedia (from Texas A&M University)
This
is IBM's 's Linux Overview page.
This is my unconditional
best site for shareware and freeware. Linux, Windows, Mac, you name it, Tucows
probably has it. Prime site!
If you know of Linux as freeware, there is a reason: Linux is written and distributed
under the GNU General Public License which means that its source code is freely-distributed
and available to the general public. This site has a bit of an organic, grassroots
feel, but then this is where it all started!
This is a very strong Linux news site, with links to all things related to the
Linux Operating System. It is updated daily and has a large number of Linux
links. Linuxtoday also features a Linux
Jobs subsite that is referenced in many other Linux sites.
Site featuring "cool Linux gear", "Linux friendly hardware",
"Linux games" and a lot of other utilities. This site is obviously
commercial in nature but it does a good job with the selection and variety of
products offered.
This site is actually mydesktop.com's
Linux page. First glance offers a "Distribution Watch" which, for
most Linux people is not a bad thing, since there are now so many distributions
of Linux. This is a techie site, with discussions, tech support, tutorials and
of course, the latest breaking Linux news.
If you are a coder or are
interested in seeing just what is it people do late at night coding Linux routines,
this is the place to go. The top of the site has a lot of news and other conventional
items. The more interesting part, code, documentation, languages is all at the
bottom of the site.
Beyond all the information about Linux available on this site,
the best part of OSDN is the links and tools it offers for everything from animated
gifs to HTML. A good web designer's site.
